This case study seeks to connect Chile’s reforms in the business environment with its positive performance in international trade. Two objectives are to identify the economic and institutional factors that account for the sustained expansion of Chile’s exports and imports, and to determine if those factors triggered new business opportunities for SMEs to participate in international trade. And finally, are the lessons learned transferable for enterprise development in other developing countries.
